A little while ago, I saw an advert to participate in a new adventurous TV programme. It was called The Very Good trip. In this programme, sponsored by car manufacturer Renault, you and your teammate could win 2 Renault cars. How? By travelling for a month through 4 different countries in Europe and compete against eight other European teams by taking on extreme challenges.
Without hesitation I immediately called my best friend, Rob, and asked him to join me on this adventure. We, and many other Dutch willing potential teams, made a video to convince the programme-directors s that we were the best team to represent Holland in this race. After a pre-selection on the internet, the final 5 Dutch teams were invited to Paris for the final auditions. No problem: we grabbed every chance to enjoy life in Paris!
Some weeks later I received a phone call: We had been selected and were in the competition! We were picked by the jury to get the chance to travel, to feel the rush of extreme sports and experience “exclusive” moments, from which I have only so far dreamed of.

After we heard that we were in the competition, an official video was made in Paris to introduce us to the world as the Dutch team
The competition started with a weekend in Cannes, where we met all the other teams for the first time. A great group of people! During the time we were there, it was the period of the Cannes Film festival and only seven teams had the honour to walk on the famous red carpet and watch the winning movie

After two weeks of road tripping, all the teams went to the dream place for a weekend: Venice. Next to beautiful sightseeing, lovely dinners under a clear starry sky, the competition continued, also in Venice. And the good thing: the Dutch team won the challenge! We could start the third week with fresh courage!

Compilation of the knitting challenge. During the entire road trip we had one continuous challenge: we had to knit a flag as lengthy as possible in our national colours. This compilation shows what we made of it :-)
Four weeks of travelling with our wonderful French camera-team. Full with laughter, fun & experiencing great adventures… And this all together with my best friend; I still feel so blessed that I could join this programme! Thank you Renault for this incredible journey!
